Alumina (Al2O3) is the base material for manufacturing our alumina crucibles. It is one of the most important ceramic oxides and is widely used in structural, electronics, medical, and electrical fields. Due to its high hardness, high abrasion (wear) resistance, and low cost, alumina has broad applications as an engineering technical ceramic. It has a high melting point (2054 °C) and a high boiling point (2977 °C). Alumina’s low thermal expansion and high compressive strength provide excellent thermal shock resistance. Additionally, alumina is one of the best electrical insulators at high temperatures, making it an excellent choice as a thermodielectric refractory, and it is transparent to microwave radio frequencies. Its high chemical stability makes alumina a good material to withstand chemical corrosion.
